13.11.2005., 20:00, MaMa, Preradoviceva 18. International Festival, presentation, www.international-festival.org

12.11.2005. 22:00, Kazaliste Vidra Draskoviceva 80 The importance of having a concept (working version / radna verzija)

Koncept i režija / Concept and directing: Oliver Frljić
Izvode / Performers: Darija Dozdor, Zrinka Uzbinec, Oliver Frljic
Scenografija / Stage set: Ivan Dobran
Kostimografkinje / Costumes: Zorana Meic

Three planes of performative problems are explored in this performance. Our prime interest is the establishing of causal connection between independently developed performative materials by juxtaposing them and adding external theatrical effects. The focal point is the moment in which simple succession starts to function as causality. The situation of a performer inapt for the type of performance she executes, presents an another field of examination. Thus the performance tries to problematize the shift which occurs in the concept of virtuosity. Emphasis is placed on the moment in which the performative and discursive shift from virtuosity considered as technical perfection, to virtuosity considered as every action which is fulfilled in itself without an external objectification, as redefined by Virno The tertiary plane of analysis explores the performative minimum that is necessary for the performance to be labeled as a dance performance and the ideological background on which this minimum is constituted.

CRYSTALLL problematises the ornamental function of performance.
We call performance's "ornamental function" its formal dimension, its capacity to give visual pleasure initself, without any other discursive aim than defining aesthetics through its formal properties (ornamentthen appears as non-useful, freed from representative roles); the ornamental object doesn't represent aconcept other than itself but lets itself be contemplated without a link to an absent object. The "spectacular function" is its backside, the ability to bewitch, through which a performance can absorbits audience.

04.03.2005. Tanzquartier Wien

Goran Sergej Pristas took part in a panel entitled Politics of Publication, New collaboration in the framework of congress\live act\intervention\publication entitled Inventory: dance and performance, Tanzquartier Wien, 3-5 March (visit www.tqw.at).
Why do we produce ourselves, promote ourselves, distribute ourselves and explain ourselves? Why are we “as well” around?
“ Starting from the experience of being the editor-in-chief of performing arts magazine Frakcija for already 10 yeas now, I’d like to emphasize the fact that most of Eastern-European performing arts journals (Maska, TkH, Frakcija) came out not only because of the clash of laws of the art-market and “law of energies and interests”. Reflecting this experience I realize that each issue of the magazine we published was an event for us and it never engaged theorists only, but mainly the artists who are always in situation to produce themselves, promote themselves, distribute themselves and explain themselves. At the same time I realize that we’ve been seriously considered in the performing arts circuit mainly because of our writing on brand-jokers, which was not the case in the performing arts non-related circles. Frakcija achieved international interest after we wrote on artists who were already in the focus of interest. Why are the pages on Eastern-European artists still blank pages in our magazines? Why are those texts not referential at all? Is it because the overall interest and existing energies do not produce a pregnant moment. And, are we egotEastic?”

Nik Duric from showcase beat le mot & students of the Academy of Drama Art in Zagreb present:
MY FACE IS A SHOPPING DISPLAY (Moje lice je ekran koji kupuje), an installation
MY FACE IS A SHOPPING DISPLAY is an installation dealing with questions such as: what are new forms of labour in postfordism? How do information technologies change labour concepts? The boundaries between work and leisure are blurred. Communication is the most productive work of today. Leitmotiv of the performance is a bag, capitalist bag, richman’s bag, refugee bag... The performance is a side effect of the workshop that took place in Imaginary Academy Groznjan in September 2004. and in Zagreb in January 2005. organised by Centre for drama art. The performance is one of the activities in the framework of CDU’s 2005. annual project On labour. Project On labour is a part of the project Zagreb – Cultural Kapital of Europe 3000.
The workshop/performance is supported by Goethe Institute in Zagreb.

10.11.2004. New FRAKCIJA is released

Writing about /theatrical/ performance /art/ is always a disturbing challenge and an inevitable defeat. At some point, each act of writing about performance faces the fact of its inadequacy. The greater the awareness of this fact, the greater the challenge, the greater the defeat: writing is inadequate because it deals with the invisible, transitory, inaccessible: a large part of the process of creation still remains outside the gaze, the time, intensity and experience of the particular, "immediately actual" (Bert O. States) performance: and that performance itself is always already disappearing: it becomes itself through disappearance": the written word always already betrays and lessens the promise" of the ontology of performance (as it is radically marked by Peggy Phelan). FRAKCIJA decided to follow as far as possible /in proximity of performance/ the process of creating a performance, to co-operate through texts, photographies, drawings that come about in the process and alongside the process, as reflections of those witnessing the respective stages of the work (Part One): to accompany the life of performance in front of its audience: to explore how is a performance performed after it has actually been performed, that is in the stage/or even, on the stage/ of reception, emotional experience and REFLECTION (Part Two)
